I am spending too much money!

I work in Downtown Minneapolis and it is killing my pocket book! Macy's, Target, Len Druskin, Saks, and Marshalls are all right within about 3 blocks of my building. I own things that I haven't even worn. The other day I bought more shoes, an exercise ball, and ankle weights. What?! I have a GYM membership. I DO NOT need to have an exercise ball and ankle weights. At the time I bought it I was having this dialogue in my brain:

"This is cheap. Only $9.99 for the ball.

Only $4.99 for the ankle weights

I could get this because then I could work out on the weekends

But I could go to the gym on the weekends too...

Well you never get to the gym on the weekends because you are too busy. You should buy this ball because then you could do it at home sometimes.

That's a good idea! I can then do some exercises at home!"

Note: The ball and the ankle weights are still in the box. There are tags still on clothes I had to buy.

Note to self: Have a garage sale and make back 10% of what you spent.

True Blood

Ok. So I am totally into the show True Blood on HBO. My husband thinks I am a crazy nut. He tells me that the show is unrealistic. Isn't that the point of watching TV or reading books? I want to escape from my reality! I want to enjoy and not think about my problems for a little while. Not only that every man on the show is a hunk! Who doesn't want to watch a show with a lot of eye candy? I'm in.

Reality shows have never been my thing anyhow. I think that obviously the people are on the shows to become famous and most of the drama is created anyhow. I mean look at the Batchelor. Who is swooning over women, or men if it is the Batchlorette? Crying? Get real folks! You cannot fall in love with someone the first time you meet them; or even in the whole 6 weeks or so that it takes the company to film the show. In my mind we might as well put everyone out there and say "this is the 12 you get to choose from. Go ahead, which one do you want?" RETARDED. All of them are dramatic and screwed up and the relationships are not bound to last.

The only show I remotely maybe respect is American Idol, because the people actually have to have talent to be on the show. But even that is all a get-up. It always comes down to the most popular and not necessarily the most talented. I have only seen that show a couple of times, because again, reality TV is not my bag.

So I guess the moral of the story is this:
1. Watch more TV that takes you out of reality
2. We could do less without reality TV

For the Love of Thumbilina!

So school is back in session for me. Now I have to work full-time, do school full-time, be a wife and mother, and home owner duties! My life could not get busier.

Even through all of that I still have the drive to just do more. I agreed to make a cake for my cousin's birthday. She wants a Thumbalina (sp) cake. I know nothing about this Disney character, but I will somehow make do. Hopefully it doesn't turn into something manly, because she wants a cake with a princess on it. Yikes!

Easter Bunny Madness

What is it with this Easter Bunny? HUGE retail money making scheme, that's what it is. I cannot enter a store without my son throwing a tantrum, because all of the candy is placed at his eye level. These retailers are genious. Now that Easter is over and my pocket book way thinner maybe we can resume some normalcy. Until the next holiday...
